SSR Lifesciences AND Johnsonville

The Reliable Partners for Consistent Sourcing of

As a life science manufacturer or researcher, sourcing the customized porcine materials you need, when you need them, is of critical importance. Time-sensitive projects and deadlines depend on it. SSR Lifesciences will meet your needs. Through our parent company, Johnsonville LLC, we’re able to draw upon the resources of one of the nation’s largest producers of pork products to customize a supply chain of high-quality, medical-grade porcine tissue products which consistently meets your most exacting product and logistical requirements.

SSR Lifesciences is a leader in:

Selective sourcing. No single type of source animal is ideal for all life science applications. We work closely with you to identify and source animals to optimize your application. Depending on your needs, we will provide materials sourced from animals in general-population, select or closed-herd programs.

Sourcing quality and customized traceability. Through Johnsonville, we leverage vast experience in selection of animals of the highest quality. We engage with a national network of suppliers and apply strict standards of selection that meet or exceed industry, FDA and USDA standards. We’re highly experienced in managing closed-herd programs, and can work directly with producers to establish vertical integration and traceability to the most demanding specifications.

Reliable volumes. Most suppliers are limited by the animals they stock. Our national supply network enables us to secure reliable volumes of even highly specific materials – an essential benefit for clients with time-sensitive projects. As the nation’s largest harvester of sows, we have found that this type of animal often offers more points of differentiation than smaller, younger animals for organ or tissue size, tensile strength, and natural anti-microbial and enzymatic properties.

The animals utilized within our network are sourced from suppliers that follow the pork industry’s highest quality and ethical standards, including:

Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) Plus – an education and certification program designed to help pig farmers and their employees use best practices to promote food safety

WE CARE – a proactive, multifaceted initiative to promote responsible practices in all areas of farming and is a commitment to continuously evaluate and improve our methods

Transportation Quality Assurance (TQA) – a program that helps pig transporters, produces and handlers understand how to handle, move and transport pigs as well as potential impacts on pig well-being and/or pork quality.
